Preschool Community Information

Posies Preschool

Our preschool is located in the same building as our other center, just upstairs. The hours, prices and routines for our preschool vary slightly from downstairs and this is the place to find information about it!
First off, our preschool is for children ages 3-6. We open at 7:30 am and children need to be picked up by 5:30 pm. Like downstairs, care is offered on a pre-scheduled basis only, Monday through Friday. The maximum capacity for children in this program is 20.
At Posies, our curriculum and activities are focused on five key learning goals. Each lesson or daily routine applies to one or, sometimes, all of the core learning goals. The core learning goals are:
  • Language Development
  • Problem Solving
  • Creative Thinking
  • Leadership/Social Skills
  • Independent Life Skills
Posies preschool is a child-directed learning environment. The “teachers” are there simply to guide them through the learning process.

Food
Parents provide lunch and morning and afternoon snacks for their child. We ask that parents refrain from bringing sweet or overly salty foods that have little nutritional value. Preschoolers must have one serving of dairy in their lunches each day. Only milk, water, and 100% fruit juice may be served as beverages while at preschool. We do have a food recommendation sheet should anyone want one.

Illness/Accident/Medicine
For the safety of your child and other children in the center, the provider cannot admit, or retain in care, a child who has any of the following symptoms of illness:
  • persistent diarrhea
  • vomiting
  • fever over 100.5°
  • severe cough
  • yellow color to skin or eyes
  • skin, eye lesions or rashes that are severe, weeping or pus-filled (pink eye)
  • stiff neck and/or headache with one or more of the symptoms listed above
  • wheezing or difficulty breathing
  • complaints of severe pain
  • constant runny nose that is green or yellow in color
Scratches and scrapes are inevitable when children play and will be treated with antiseptic and a band-aid. For anything more serious, the parents will be notified at once.

Toilet Readiness
It is not a requirement that children be toilet-ready upon beginning preschool at Posies. The toilet is offered at every “potty break” (no more than two hours apart). We do NOT force children to use the toilet.
